PlayMemories Home enables you to import save the photos and videos you photographed to a computer easily. Even when you import videos recorded by Sony-made cameras to your computer, it is required to connect the camera by USB connection for authenticate first time only.
Turn on the computer. Insert the fully-charged battery into the camera. Switch the camera power or press the playback button. When the connection is made correctly, you will get a message saying [Mass Storage connected] on the LCD screen of the camera. PlayMemories Home will start. The image import window will be displayed when you select [Import Media Files]. A two- or ten-second self timer allows the photographer to get in the picture themselves, or to avoid camera shake caused by pressing the shutter button when shooting on a tripod.
A nearly useless 6MB of internal memory is also available, enough to capture a handful of test photos should you forget to purchase a flash card along with the camera. We had a little trouble with the Sony W as we ran it through our tests, and we had to go through a few units until we got one with passable image quality.
In the end, we still didn't feel that its image quality was up to snuff, so decided to not go through our full review process for it. While its brothers the W and W offer pretty decent image quality, the Sony W unfortunately comes up short.
Contrast is too high, colors are oversaturated, shadows are too dark, and the lens is just too soft overall. You can still see our test shots here , to see what helped us make our decision.
Build actually seems okay; the Sony W actually looks like it should be a nice camera from the front, but it's not as nice as the cameras we'd recommend, like the Sony W , W , or Canon SD , available for just a little more money. The payoff in image quality with the other three cameras will astound you. As always, feel free to download the sample images we have shot so you can decide for yourself. If you only plan on making 4x6 inch prints, the W may be just what you're looking for.
But be sure to compare the image quality of the Sony W , Sony W , or Canon SD , if you can find the room in your budget for one of them. A Great Compact camera after reading lots of expert reviews and user reviews i finally opted for this camera and even after confirming it from a friend of mine, let me assure you all that those persons who all wish to make this hard choice between the said camera and canon Ixus IS and or cannon Ixus IS … please go ahead and buy this sony dsc w camera and please dont be bothered about any advers opinions by so called experts about the Sony dsc w camera … as this camera takes excellent pics very crisp and crystal clear and its fun and easy to operate and yes you all can even adjust the settings manually too, and the carls lens is supreme and the optical image stabliser is great and takes pics without any blurs and shakes and even the night and indoor photography results of the picture is outstanding.
And even the video is crisp and clear and that too the HD Movie … so what more one can ask for. So without any hesitation i can recommend this camera to all of you here and i can surely say this that i am proud to own this camera coupled with the fact that it has a wide angle lens and takes classic sweep panorama pics too … to sum it up it a great little beauty and just go out and get it u wont be disappointed by its results and the quality of pics … but let me add here this camera is better than sony dsc w and or dsc w so its advised to go for this model alone, as it akes better pictures and the image quality of this camera is much better than the models mentioned above, ….
I purchased the sony dsc-w for taking photos of my handmade glass bead jewelry and other items. The menu for changing the scene settings is strange. I thought maybe the food plate or snowman setting would make sense. Not happy.
No problems with outdoor scenery. Good compact camera for travel, but is there a better one for my still items needs? Yes, W supports panorama shots — go for w — smaller size and clear picture — now the price is come down from Rs. Does the W have color effects on it? I just got one last night for my birthday.. Does it do the black and white and sepia thing? Just bought the DSC W HD movie fps is also brillient.. I could not believe I was sos lucky to have found this little gem..
